Introducing Ashok!

Hi!  I’m Ashok, the Marketing Coordinator at the IKC. I was born and brought up in Bangalore.  Open to the outdoors at a young age, I took an immediate liking to nature and sport. I completed my schooling at Clarence High School, soon  after which I became serious about basketball as a sport and have been playing hard ever since!
Moving on from there, I was keen on pursuing higher studies in the field of business; I continued to do my Bachelors in Commerce at Kristu Jayanti College where I also pursued my passion for basketball and thrived in the sport!
During this time, many ideas were budding in my mind about a career choice as I felt the thirst to learn more of what happens in the business realm of our world. To quench this thirst I chose to explore the field of management study, further opening my mind to new ideas.  I recently graduated with an MBA in Human Resources Management and Marketing from St. Joseph’s College of Business Administration in Bangalore.
Soon after, I met Jen through a mutual friend, who put me in touch with Girish. From there on the rollercoaster ride of my life has begun! I loved the concept and idea driving the IKC and wanted to jump in the fun as soon as possible. So, I came on board the IKC to help enhance its social media presence by managing Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube and other online forms of media.  Supporting and developing additional opportunities for our partner universities gives me the chance to put new and innovative ideas into play. With activities including assisting in the execution of all initiatives and outreach efforts around the country, my work at the IKC is a never ending learning curve and continuously satisfies my thirst for knowledge!
Being an adventure and travel fanatic, I like to live life by the motto, “If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine…it’s lethal” [Paulo Coelho].
 Interview Time!
Jen: Ashok, we hear you don’t go to sleep until extremely late at night!  Tell us, what do you do until the wee hours of the morning?
I’m a huge classic rock fan, and just can’t help myself if the Rolling Stones are blasting through the speakers, Jen!  I also like to read and do arts and crafts…there’s just not enough time in the day for me!
Suma: We know that you had several other employment opportunities, but you chose to come and work with us.  What was it about the IKC that drew you in?
First, I was really interested in what the IKC is doing and believe in it.  But beyond that, I wanted the opportunity to work in a newer, smaller environment where I can see my efforts converted into intrinsic and extrinsic rewards; most importantly to be a part of building something great as part of an awesome team!!!
Jen: Tell me more about what the quote you’ve used means to you.
It’s a quote that inspires and I’d love to live by.  I don’t see adventure as dangerous as it seems, although to many people adventure may seem scary.  Adventure is a mix bag of thrills and chills for me; routine paralyzes.  And adventure can be anything from riding up a hill to crossing a raging river.  What’s my next big adventure?  Hmmm. I’d like to go base jumping in Switzerland…
