Interested in Architecture?

If you are interested in constructing or designing a building, then choosing Architectural engineering program would fulfill your dream. Architectural engineering programs prepare students to plan and design buildings. Studying in the U.S. will give you an opportunity to learn and implement the designs in your class.
By studying Architectural engineering, you will have many opportunities to work in any architectural firm across the globe or start your own business.
Architectural engineering programs include topics such as:

  • Building materials
  • Construction methods
  • Site and building evaluation

Architectural engineers combine the principles of design and engineering to create usable buildings. Like all engineers, they apply math and science to problem solving. Architectural engineers often work on-site with a team of other engineers, architects and construction workers.
They often work with other engineers and with architects, who focus on function layout or aesthetics of building projects. Architectural Engineering often encompasses elements of other engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and others. The architectural engineers are responsible for the different systems within a building, structure, or complex.
Architectural engineers focus on several areas, including:

  • the structural integrity of buildings
  • the design and analysis of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems,
  • efficiency and design of plumbing, fire protection and electrical systems,
  • acoustic and lighting planning, and
  • energy conservation

Architectural Engineers work in teams with other engineers and architects to design, construct, and maintain buildings and building complexes. They might focus on designing structural systems, evaluating and planning heating and air conditioning, lighting, electrical, plumbing, and/or fire protection systems for buildings. Architectural Engineers may work on new building projects, or renovations of existing structures.
Now here’s some food for thought about Kansas State University‘s Architecture program, where the aim of the Architectural Engineering (ARE) curriculum is to prepare entry-level engineers for the consulting engineering field who are well-grounded in the engineering specialties, but who also have an understanding of how the building is designed and built and how the engineering systems fit into the building.
To accomplish this goal, KSU utilize a five-year curriculum. Essentially, this involves approximately four years of engineering and one year of building architectural and construction related courses.
