Gen Next Education is pleased to present a one-of-a-kind international practicum in India for Journalism students. This program is open to Journalism students (sophomore standing or above) at any US college or university.
The primary objective for the program would be to train young student journalists from US campuses in the nuances of being an international correspondent. By equipping the students with a breadth of knowledge on a country like India and providing them with the hands-on experience of reporting and writing from a developing nation, the program contributes to building a generation of well-informed foreign correspondents with a strong grounding in practical experience and sensitivity. This training would also serve the needs of students who aspire to participate in volunteer programs/work with NGOs in the developing world.

This program will provide in-service teachers the opportunity to teach for five weeks in Bangalore, India as well as learn from and interact with teachers and students in a dynamic setting. Participants will be partnered with an elementary, middle or high school teacher from India, and will be immersed in the languages and culture of India, experiencing firsthand, a different K-12 educational system.

This program offers you a unique opportunity to sharpen your intercultural understanding and enhance your global competence by engaging in a collaborative educational endeavor that reciprocally contributes to the internationalization of partner schools in Bangalore.
In addition to the classroom experience, participants will explore the region through daily life, weekend excursions, home stays, and have the opportunity to also learn about and experience education for underprivileged children through visits to local government schools and relationships with local Non-Government Organizations (NGOs). The five-week experience will conclude with an excursion to the Taj Mahal.
